WWC round up…
We’re back from our very first When Words Collide festival, and are definitely putting it on the calendar for 2027! This year’s festival included a virtual keynote from the legendary Terry Brooks, a performance by Kids in the Hall’s own Kevin MacDonald, book signings, a fabulous vendor room, and so many excellent panels, talks, and classes that it was impossible to get to everything we wanted. Come out to the Calgary festival next year….tickets are already on sale!

A free outdoor book fest…
The Word on the Street is coming back for its 37th year, taking place in David Pecaut Square in Toronto. This is the city’s largest outdoor book festival, bringing in over 100 000 book enthusiastics and is completely free (except for all of the books you’ll undoubtedly buy). This year’s festival runs from September 26-27.

A literary destination…
Toronto’s Book Bar, inspired by counterparts in NYC, has been open for two months and has established itself as a hub for literary lovers. No matter your genre of choice, this is definitely a stop to make when you’re in the Toronto area.

Quote of the week…
“Writing energy is like anything else. The more you put in, the more you get out.”
– Richard Reeves
